It is a shame that the few ruin it for the many. I also suspect that we divers get the blame for other goups as well. Recently, while removing my gear after a dive in Laguna Beach, a group of loud, obnixious, people in their twenties came by. They were shouting back and forth to each other of quite a little distance, and even mooning one another. They were not divers, just beach goers. But I bet the residents thought divers.
