Tim, I could not agree with you more. Apology submitted. My comment “Taxi Driver” was not intended to belittle the captains / owners that do get involved and dive, but to point out to the want-a-be DMs that this DM job don not need to be taken lightly.
I have been on your boat many times and you along with a good handful of other captains / owners do in fact get involved on the deck and are the ones who make the decisions. You know as well as I when I worked for Al all those years, he made the decisions. What he also knew is that he could trust us to run the entire dive operations.
You have to admit that way too many DMs and instructors are lazy.
