An example. Point Fermin. It is not uncommon for another boat to arrive while I am there or for me to arrive when others are in the water. In my case, I will have three divers typically -- not a crowded situation. But if I and my buds are diving point Fermin and another boat is in the area, we will carefully anchor away from the other boat and its divers. We will rarely see any other divers anyway.

An example of crowding would be the Yukon back when we had our boat in a slip in San Diego for a while. It was always crowded and divers seemed to pop up around our boat with unnerving frequency. There we would start up and cut loose and allow ourselves to drift away for a fair distance before putting it in gear. Again we looked for signs of divers below.
