A thread about Roatan is technically against the forum rules (see the FAQ), but it was in the spirit of the forum, however it is a judgment call.
I would not have deleted the thread, but I am not the only editor.
In fact I was going to add to it when I had a chance.
My editors do a very good and difficult job for no compensation.
I do not always agree with their choices, but I support their often difficult decisions.
In hindsight I have found that their choices are better than mine.
However we are all human, and make human choices.
It is possible to accidentally delete an entire thread, when only trying to delete a single post by hitting the wrong button.
I have done this twice over the years.
Unfortunately there is no unerase, or way to recover what has been deleted.
So once the editor makes the decision there is no turning back.
In the last two months I personally removed one thread about gay bashing, and two porn spam posts, and two MLM spam posts.
A similar gay bashing thread was removed from another diving BBS as well.
The BBS editors are doing a great job.
They have the freedom to make tough choices, and do it well.
