If I were you, knowing what I know now, I would do the advanced at a place such as Liburdi Scuba. Sure they are out of the way, but you have elective choices in your advanced course -- or at least you should. If your interest is in photography, why not seek the best instruction. Joe Liburdi of Liburdi Scuba is a famous underwater photographer and his store reflects that. See if you can combine the photography skills into the course. Sure it is more of a drive, but I would talk to them and see if anything can be worked out on your schedule to meet your needs.

Your experiences at that store seemed to be quite satisfactory and the instructor you had sounds good. So of course you should not hesitate to use him again. But then again, if you choose another instructor you will gain insights from the varied perspectives of various instructors' experiences. I believe there is always merit in seeking the best. Liburdi Scuba is top notch for photographic needs. Other stores are also really good. Don't get too stuck on it having to be local if you are looking for a specialist.
