I just read that post about the tank being empty. Well if you know the person to be honest there is no problem. If a tank is 3 months old and the hydro date is that year, you would not need to vis it. Most tanks sit on shelves for about three years. Say you by a tank today and the hydro date says 1/99 and you do not fill it where you bought it. Take it to another shop, they will want to look, there is no way to know how long it was sitting empty. Moral of the story is be smart. When you purchase a tank look at the hydro date. If the year is not current, insist that the shop put a vis sticker on the new tank. Now it is good for one year like it or not. If they say they want to look let them look but tell them you are not paying for another vis, odds are they will just fill it or look and fill it. You need to just be a little more clever than they are.
