Before getting the new vis, I empty my tank, take off the valve and inspect it myself. That way I know what may be coming. And I know I empty it slowly without freezing the tank.

If I ever want to do my own vis in between, I can give it a fill again from my full pony, so the store won't even know it was empty once. As soon as I see pitted rust, it will get a tumble and a new vis.

If at all possible, I have all that done at a hydro place where I can wait for it to be done (except for the tumble which might take too long to wait).
