At a minimum, you need to be rescued certified and have 50 logged dives. I don't know for sure, but I don't think the LA County Advanced class would count. I believe you could get some discounted rescue classes if you were taking them expressly for the purpose of joining the AOP, but again I'm not entirely sure.
If you want, you could call the AOP and ask to speak to Pete Pehl, the Dive Saftey Officer. He could probably answer any questions you may have.
