As Robert mentioned, we've always noted six chain hanging down almost to the water's edge from the underbelly of Elly on the NE side and we never knew what they were . . . until now.

I called called the rigs this morning (talked to Laurie in Rig Control) and was told that the chains were put there to aid in static discharge of some turbines. (But the turbines are no longer in use.) They also served, since the exhaust of the turbines was inside of the chains and the rig legs, as a deterrent from boats getting too close to the exhaust.

Now you know.
