You guys took advantage of the lull before the weather, that's a pretty safe option. We are at that time of the year when the potential for a dangerous clearing wind is the greatest. Even a relatively insignificant low pressure wave can pack serious clearing winds just behind it. Other than the south easterly wind, the clearing winds are the most dangerous in our waters.
I have canciled more trips due to forecast rather than actual weather also. As you know, a responsible mariner must factor in the advisories when planning a trip. You don't want to ever take the chance that something happens after you went out against an advisory, real or cautionary...
There is a nice clearing wind in the local waters today.
