Actually Monterey is the most popular place in Northern California to teach students and is more often than not the calmest on the Northern Coast, depending on which beach you are diving. On any givin weekend there will be at least 6 to 8 classes being taught and during the summer months a lot more than that.

Not to many days with less than 5 feet, sometime you need to drop down through a layer but on general you can count on vis be 10ft or more.
