Isn't it kind of a "given" that if you are a seriously playing with camera toys, or hunting bugs, etc. you are a "crummy buddy". Anyone who "buddies" with these people are really solo diving and hopefully have the skills, confidence, etc. to be a solo diver.
This is a good reminder to everyone to always turn on the air and to made sure the tank really did get filled. I don't think I know of anyone who dives a lot who hasn't forgotten one of the above at some point. Most of the time you figure it out before you get into the water, but sometimes you don't. A well inflated BC at the giant stride at least gives a margin for error.
