Best thing about Bonaire is the shore diving. For a shop all we cared about was ease of picking up tanks so we went with the one at the hotel. Great to dive on your own and not as part of a herd. I hate going with a DM and a crowd.
As to car break ins, we left our car wide open with only towels, sandals, a few spares, and sunscreen in it and had no problems. If you lock your car and/or leave valuables you may have a problem but a little common sense and you will be fine.
