My only issue with your comments Melvin, is that I'd have to say my personal experience has proved I'm much less likely to have an O-Ring fail all on its own than having it get crimped by some tech putting it back together incorrectly. The last thing I would ever consider is having everything over-hauled right before a trip to some far off destination where parts might be hard to come by.
My personal approach: Have them professionally serviced occasionally, but then I make sure I go over them myself and have ample opportunity to test them under easy conditions prior to any extended dives or dive trips.
