According to their dive report, they were using 15/55 backgas, which would put the bottom between 210-250 fsw. The purple plants are actually tunicates if I'm not mistaken. In Socal you will only find them on wrecks below 100 feet. The Olympic II has a few of these, but no Metridiums. The Ace One is covered by them and also has a lot of Metridiums in 120-125 feet. You are correct about the different life at depth, though. After watching JW's video I thought it was shallower than the depth they want us to believe it is. :-)
