While it is true that a sharp eyed skipper might notice bubbles if he is looking, the truth is that diver bubbles are not noticed by boat operators who are looking further out and watching for large objects at the surface.

Using a lift bag or a safety sausage on a line will allow you to put a market at the surface that is highly visible and will cause a boat to divert. With a 15' line, it is possible to make sure that people know you are there for a couple of minutes before you ascend to propeller depth.
