To clarify my post below:
Under the system the CG Lt. Cmrd. proposed, a tag/band/whatever would be issued as the diver approached the gate and returned at the end of the dive, when they're back on board. This would be repeated for every dive.
The tags/bands/etc would be stored in some fashion to allow quick calculation of who was out and who was back. When everyone's back, they would do a roll call to verify.
It wouldn't have to be seen during the dive and it wouldn't have to be worn after the dive.
The process would be repeated for every dive.
What they are looking for is a system that will standardize the roll call process -- instead of leaving it up to each boat to come up whatever scheme they feel is best. They said they want something that is consistent and, above all, WORKS.
If you don't like the CG's proposed system, please outline an alternative and be as specific as possible.
