Irresponsible dive buddies assuredly account for more accidents than all the D/Ms in the world. (Sorry that I dont have data however).
Whenever a diver dies, he/she has normally been separated from his/her dive buddy(ies), leading to the issue of why the "irresponsible" dive buddy lost track of the victim in the first place.
In the present situation, I cannot fathom (nautical term) how on Earth the two asssholes that were designated as Dan's buddies (1) left him, (2) did not perform a lost buddy procedure for him, and above all else (3) did not report him missing to the boat.
So that needs to be added to your list too, Mr. Tribes. Especially since had it become a homicide investigation, it would be the irresponstible dive buddies on trial for negligent manslaughter along with the D/M(s).
