Well, at the top of the first page of my website at seahunt Diving For The Fun Of It is a discussion of that with a link that talks about diving near the Bay area.
You are near good diving in Monterey and the North Coast. There are reports about both places on the site.
Come to Eric's dive party the first weekend of August at Van Damme for some great fun, good people and some great diving. The reports are there too.
California diving is the best!
