Agree with your points except #'s 1 and 2. On almost all 1/2 day open boat charters in warm water venues, nobody knows anybody until they board the boat. Individuals and couples generally sign up the day before. Only possible exception would be a package dive trip, but even then, no time to "hang out" unless booked into the same hotel or condo.
