Unfortunately, Manta rays have been taken off the Californial coast by longliners working hundreds of miles off the coast. That far out, the water stays in the 60's year around and fish that never venture near shore are frequently taken by longline vessels. Blue marlin, Black marlin, Sailfish, Louvar, Pomfret, Oarfish, Opah, Megamouth, and a variety of dolphins, porpoise, beaked whales, sperm whales, minke, pinnepeds, and sea turtles as well as sea birds are killed incidentally by longliners off OUR coast every year....
