You won't find any of those little orange buggers on Catalina.
The Garibaldi were all exterminated by the wildly popular G-Baldizilla contest a few years back. The winners got an unlimited abalone card for a year.
The water temp varies wildly depending on if you are near the thermal vents or the ice flows.
The best scuba is in Lovers Cove and under the pier where the SS Catalina docks.
