For those of you who belong to dive or surfing clubs, please pass this along to all members of your respective clubs. Post to any BBS, etc. Send to dive or board shops. We need a lot of letters sent FAST! If anyone asks what this is about - send them a copy of Report 1 with the map and project description.
We are requesting that everyone send an email, FAX, or letter to the following (when you write, be professional and courteous; send underwater pictures of life at Redondo if you have them):

Because of the expected degradation of the water and beach quality, let the Chamber of Commerce know that you will not visit Redondo if the dredging proceeds as planned.
Inform them that there is an economic impact of losing divers and surfers who visit Redondo. Provide an estimate of how much you (and your students if you are an instructor) put in the parking meters, pay for gas, buy food or gear, and otherwise spend in Redondo each year.
Tell them what happened after the last dredging operation and how long it took to recover. If you have any pre- or post- pictures, send those. Tell them that there are alternatives that are within the City’s budget to dredge the harbor and not ruin the beach and underwater environment.
Finally, send a copy of your FAX, email, or letter to each of the Council Members listed below:
