This is for inbetween dives, but if you are planning to go traveling around some good tourist towns are Tiburon or Sausilto in Marin County. Besides the Embarcadero, there is not much to do in San Francisco, but its always fun if you want a fancy dinner to go to the top of the Marriot building or to one of the museums. The wine country is not overrated if you are into wine (I am not... yet) But its literally almost as far as you can see, vineyards. Also a very scenic drive would be 17 mile drive and then to Pebble Beach. In some spots, some times in the year, the water is the same color as you would see in Hawaii, just a lot colder.
