It was back in the early 90's at the quarry below the isthmas. I was coming off a trip to nic and i was just catching a nights sleep before heading home the following morning. I was abruptly woken from sleep by a man jumping aboard my skiff! There were 4 armed DFG wardens dressed in full para-military garb looking for lobster poachers. After a brief search they left. When i got back, i wrote a letter to the head of the DFG and a copy to the governor. i soon received a very sincere letter of appology from the deputy director of the DFG.
I would agree with those heavy handed tactics if they had a known suspect, but not as a matter of routein investigation. Surprising someone like that could have easily turned into a very ugly scene...
