Every camera set up has it's strengths and its weaknesses.

I see the biggest difference between film and digital to be that digital gives me the sense that it is creating an illusion of something, digital images rarely look real to me.

But, remember, every image that I post it is not the film that you are seeing - you are only seeing a digital recreation of what is on the film. I've never been able to make scans that look exactly like the slides do. A lot is lost in the scan. I'll take having the slides to having digital images from the slides any day.
