This is oficially under the jurisdiction of Avalon Harbor. The main reason for no SCUBA in the cove is for safety around the glass bottom boats. (lots of them) On a weekend in the summer, there may be 5 or 6 boats cruising over the kelp at one time. As for entering the water at the ramp by the ferry docks, be careful there (again the glass bottom boats) This is very near one of their sto and throw fish food spots, so the boats tend to clog up here. I've spent lots of time snorkeling and freediving in the cove and usually find the best marine life at the far east end of the cove (away from Avalon) towards Abalone Point. Good luck. Jamie. |
