Thanks to John who took the time to put together the bases for the DFG's right to search based on the persence of equipment that might be used in connection with fishing / hunting. We learned this from the DFG speaker when we took our LACounty dive training. We also heard similar arguments to Dave's, but had a lawyer among the instructors who upheld the warden's statements and explained the logic.

Feel a little sorry for the guy/gal with the 9 bugs as I suspect the hassle and cost of the citation will likely tarnish an otherwise great trip. But they should have known / probably did know better. At least the warden didn't confiscate the entire catch or the largest 2.

I know that you (Tim) always tell your diver guests to know the regs and know what they are taking before they shoot or take anything. But some people just don't listen.
