We were anchored off PV at night. Three of us went down the anchor line together and within a minute or two we were no longer in sight of each other. After an hour, I decided to surface and figure out where I was so that I could get a heading back to the boat. At the surface, I could not fidn the boat. There were some lights on shore at PBC and my boat was in the same direction. The cabin and anchor lights were completely masked by the lights on shore. I decided that either the boat was gone or it was in that direction.

I memorized the pattern of lights and then swam about 25 yards across the predicted path and looked at the lights again. Some moved, so I knew they were closer. I took a compass reading and went back down. Found the anchor and felt really good as I came back up the line.
