The first backpack (a French one) I ever used was two plastic rails that clamped to the tank and straps attached to that. My
Champagne botttle bottom 1800 psi tank that I used for a number of years. All it had was a harness and shoulder straps
made of 1 inch cotton straps. It worked pretty good until I got
hit by a very big sleeper wave at Zuma that broke it. It wasn't what you'd call real comfortable, but it worked. The tank cost
me $7 at the Simi Swap Meet.... 33 years ago.
