I recived the following message from Dr. Milton Love about the fish I thought was a Spotted Turbot.

Generally the spots on a spotted turbot remain in place no matter what the other colors it has. Also, isn't the habitat a little wrong for spotted turbots? I have the sense that they are more likely to be found on sand. Another possibility is the c-o turbot, (Pleuronichthys coenosus). It is often found over rock-sand bottoms, often in kelpbed areas. Also, it often gets that purple coloration.
