You've never heard of it because the government has been keeping it secrets for decades. It's a huge conspiracy... wait a minute, wrong BBS.

You've never heard of it because I just made that name up for a spot of isolated reef that I found on the GIS data a little North of Pt. Vicente. It's an amazing reef that comes up 10-20ft off the bottom and is so covered in life that you can't put a finger down without squishing something. It's like Buchannon's Reef but better. When I was dropping waypoints down on the data, I labeled the spot Hawthorne b/c it seemed to be off the end of Hawthorne Blvd (I had a road layer turned on at the time). For lack of something better to call it, we've all been calling it Hawthorne Reef.

Phil told me yesterday that local fishermen call the spot Barber Pole. I don't know much about local names for the various spots so I just make stuff up as I go along... I don't really care what things are called anyway as long as the diving is good :-)

I'll take you there the next weekend that we both have open.

Cheers,
Ross
