I believe ankle weights were invented to compensate for dry suit lower leg air expansion. Halcyon markets a product that accomplishes the same thing: Gator Wraps; cloth leggings that are Velcro'd around the calf to prevent lower leg air expansion. Different product, same intention. Most dry suits need neither if diving with the "original" ScubaPro large Jetfins; their weight is adequate compensation for lower leg air expansion.
