There are several beaches in Malibu and Ventura that produce lots of lobsters. Marineland and Vet's are two of the worst site for hunting, unless you're into nudibranchs. The best lobster spots in Palos Verdes are offshore along the west side, where commercial trapping is not allowed. You can get to some of them from shore, but they require a hike down goat trails and long swims to the outer reefs.
