Ross invited us to dive Farnsworth Bank today abord the Orion III. We couldn't have picked a better day. The ocean was a lake from Los Angeles Harbor to beyond the backside of Catalina. The only drawbacks were the ripping current, nominal vis and my failure to get any pictures. I'm still in a learning process. So far I've learned that I can't take pictures. Out of over 150 images over two dives, only two weren't black.
The surface entertainment was great. A Minke whale surfaced less than 100 feet from the boat on the way across the channel. We saw five Gray whales on the backside plus a pod of dolphin jumping out of the water, some doing flips. On our way home Merry got to see her first Mola Mola. Hopefully Ross had better luck with his camera.
