Ya know, I was surprised when I read this. I looked back at it and back again. What you say! Freediving never struck me as
strenuous. Quite the contrary. While it is true that I push it a bit on scuba, freediving has always been easier and I do it
fairly seriously. Admittedly, doing it past say 60 feet is a stress, especially over some time, but I when ab diving I
consistantly work at 20 to 30 feet (most abs aren't past about 25 feet) and I find it only very mildly strenuous. The time
on the surface paying attention to the waves and surge is much more tiring than the time of the dive. When properly freediving
you must be completely relaxed. It is like a leisurly stroll through a cool forest. Even your body responds with the diving
reflex where your heart and breathing naturally slow.
I dunno, but I don't consider freediving demanding.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
