Had a really nice dive at malaga cove today with Mike B, even with a cloudy overcast. Had low expectations for the vis based on the surface swim, but dropped down into pretty good vis for a beach dive. Entered over the rocks, exited at the sandy beach.

Purpose: wide-angle photography
Surf: very low
Vis: 20ft
Temp: 59
Max depth: 28ft
Bottom time: 80 minutes

Sightings included many sheep crabs, many whelk eggs, and two bat rays. We were looking for horn sharks but didn't find any. Kelp was healthy and plentiful.

Here are some photos, enjoy!

Two sheep crabs

Large Bat Ray. I noticed this guy from far away, tugged on Mike's fin to show him the ray, took this shot (heavily cropped), then started a slow approach.

Mike scaring the bat ray. As I was slowly approaching the ray, Mike came at him full speed, lol. He better had gotten a good shot!

Rock crab tucked away in a hiding spot

This sheep crab has nowhere to go! and only 1 claw to defend himself.. poor guy
