Going with a local company will probably be rather hard due to time constraints. If you go with the cruise group, the boat will wait if you are late. Also, they are less likely to cancel entirely if the group going is too small.
Be aware though that the cruise group may offer you the best diving imaginable. It doesn't matter if they don't deliver.
I brought my gear except for tank and weights.
