While I appreciate your candor and sentiment, I would very much like to hear an official word from Sports Chalet on this issue.

While I have only been certified this time around since September of 2006, I admit that much of my “education” and equipment has been purchased through SC. They have taken very good care of my wife and me, a fact that has been borne out when traveling and visiting other LDS.

In traveling and talking to other divers from all over the US, I have come to realize that the Southern California fleet of dive boats is second to none. We have some of the finest boats afloat, run by some of the finest dive boat captains at the helms anywhere, “personed” by some of the most polite, courteous and knowledgeable deck hands, DMS and galley staff operating (and you KNOW who you are!). To top it off, we seem to pay some of the lowest rates in the country for our three tank dives in our “temperate” paradise.

Laura and I enjoy diving at the Avalon Dive Park. For us, with a round trip on the Catalina Express with upgrade, taxi to and from the Casino, six to eight fills and tank rentals and food, it’s actually cheaper to book a day on one of our favorite dive boats! I can’t speak for others, but I really wouldn’t mind paying a bit more to continue taking advantage of the extreme level of quality boats and crew we have available in Southern California.

I hope Chris Robinson is listening and will make a statement available. I’d much rather hear what he has to say and go from there than get the rope knotted and ready to swing before we have all the facts in.

So…how do we get a group together to take the GE of the BS to Farnsworth Banks and the Backside of Catalina for a two day trip? Anyone else up for it? How many do we need? How do we organize it?
