Ross Overstreet and I did a night dive at Christmas once and got totally turned around on the exit. Without any landmarks in the dark, we thought we'd come out in the next cove south so started hiking north ... we got to Lunada Bay before we found a trail to get back up the cliff. Unfortunately, the trail degenerated into a sheer cliff face halfway up. So we were rock climbing in full scuba gear at night!

Still, I've had lots of excellent dives at Christmas Tree. I'm lucky to do it more from a boat these days (thanks to Frank O).
