It has always been illegal to possess more than one daily bag limit of lobsters (including your freezer). There are some buts: If you collected lobsters under a multi-day fishing permit, you may possess up to three limits total. You can give them to your family or friends. However, no one is allowed to possess more than one limit or take more than one limit in a day.

And the thing about keeping some in an aquarium - totally illegal.

And about checking freezers, we do that on occasion when investigating poaching.
