You're right - Ken's point is well taken and teh dive computer was just being used as an illustration of a valid point.

Its like following your computer and 'staying out of the red' while 'being in the yellow'. Doesn't mean you'll be safe. If for example you're dehydrated that day you could still be 'in the green' and get bent (or not).

Same goes for ascent rates, safety stops, petting sharks (ahem), etc. You can get away with violations, but eventually they catch-up (and in one case, literally bite you).
