No, we won't expect anyone to hit 35 fsw.

Our focus is to teach the basics of beach entry and skin dive techniques (in this case, an excellent place to practice kelp dives). This includes early and consistent equalization and safe surfacing as well as good form for the dive. As an introductory experience the goal is to learn, practice and have a safe and FUN day in our ocean.

We ask participants to either not use weights or to use half the normal dive weight and wear a bouyancy vest (BC, horse collar or snorkeler vest).

Most 3-R's participants are able to dive to 7 to 10 fsw without weights, some can grab sand at 20 to 25 fsw. Executing a good form kelp dive is what we strive to teach.

What I really hope is that we see the marvelous schools of calicos and senioritas just below the kelp that we enjoyed a couple of weeks ago there. That really made the day.

Plus its always a treat to get a ride on the Baywatch boat and meet with our County Lifeguards.
