Very interesting. I used to run into SEALs on occasion around San Diego. They tested stuff at United Gun Range... stuff I

would have loved to try out. I met them on dive boats occasionally and you would see their black inflatables going through the

harbor in formation. One guy told me he had practice dives inside Mission Bay and found an 8 pound lobster... that he

couldn't do anything with but let go.

The funny thing I figured out about them was that they are the
unexpected. As I am sure you know, as much as they are trained

to be warriors, they are trained to be diplomats and leaders.
They embody the thinking warrior. My conversations made me

think that they believed that resorting to violence meant that
they had failed to find the best solution.
My impression, of whatever accuracy, was that it was fairly easy to tell if they were real SEALs. Not one ever bragged and

what they said was always unexpected and interesting.
The funniest encounter though was on a dive boat. One guy commented on my wearing a snorkle on the right side. He said he

was glad to see it because he wore it that way and was self concious because he had been told that was not the right way.
Iasked who was naybody to tell him what way they thought was right or wrong.
