I don't know about the MLPA, but when the Abalone Advisory Board (or whatever it was called) requested participants, I said I was
interested and listed my diving and academic credentials. They said they were interested, but that was the last I heard from them.
Ya know, a funny thing. If I read correctly they said the preserves were apparently resulting in bigger fish after 5 years. That seems
odd because as I recall most preserves have shown more dramatic effects in that time period.... Hmmmm. Now that I think of it,
I've noticed that the preserves I have visited they were very unbalanced ecologically speaking. It would be fun to examine more and
noodle on.
In any case, I'm glad that there is some protection. I just wonder what they will do when the balance gets like Gerstle or La Jolla
Coves and obviously require harvesting.
