I made a couple dozen crossings in my old 12.5' Achilles inflatable. It took about 50 minutes in calm seas, but if I waited until afternooin to come back I paid for it for the next three days in sore muscles. It was a great little boat. I used to spend less than ten dollars in gas for a couple dives at Catalina.
