Jeff, there are a number of brands of good fins out there. I currently own a pair of Riffe fins (made by Mares), a couple of Mares, and a pair of Esclapez. They don't just add a little, compared to regular fins they're like wearing a rocket pack.

It's been a while since I bought mine, and I'm not sure what's around these days -- Roger Yazbeck used to have the Freedive Shop in Hermosa Beach, but I believe it's closed. I've also bought freediving gear at Blue Water Hunter in Santa Barbara, but that's probably a drive. At least in the past Sport Chalets carried Cressi 2000 freediving fins. Maybe someone will post with ideas on other local retail shops that currently carry fins of this type. I'd buy them in person instead of online, as the fit can be tricky -- they are full-foot fins, and you want them snug but not constricted when you wear them with neoprene socks.
