You should also know that the North Coast Representative of the RAAC made the same report in the Commission's Marine Resource Council meeting and was soundly rebuked by the commercial fishermen for saying that same thing. The fact that they swim past $100 bills (abalone) while shoveling $1 urchins into a bag is obviously a huge incentive to poach. If ANY legal fishery is established in the southland again it will become even more difficult to police the illegal take. There is simple too much ocean and far too few DFG wardens to put up an effective defense. Honor dies where interest lies and this is another example of this aged proposition. Thanks for caring.
