Well, for years you basically saw no abalone at all. They are coming back now, but there is no hunting south of the
Golden Gate.
Most of the large Sheepheads are gone.
The scallops are far thinner.
There are far fewer large fish.
The lobsters are doing OK, but are smaller.
Overall, the rock fish have been way over harvested. Few of the deep water ones are left.
Of course, it could be far worse. If the otters come south, what we see now will look pristine compared to what they will leave.
