I disagree with you in that if you dive air to air limits and Nitrox to Nitrox limits you are no safer.
While I agree that a given compartment can only tolerate a maximun M-value. And if you saturate it with air -v- nitrox that compartment is nonetheless saturated. However, where your analysis falls short is that let's assume that this dive is taking place at 130' ( and forget for purposes of this discussion how long it will take each compartment to saturate ).
Given that the equivalent air depth of the Nitrox mix will allow for a clearer head I would argue that despite the fact that when you compare M-values the analysis is equal, there is a significant narcotic benefit derived.
